Role Summary
The Ward Sister/Charge Nurse provides both clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing and multidisciplinary team, acting as a clinical leader and expert practitioner to support the delivery of high-quality patient care. Working closely with colleagues and external agencies, the post holder will guide, advise and influence practice to ensure patients receive safe, effective and person-centred care.
A key aspect of the role involves reviewing and evaluating patient care, including the assessment of care planning and delivery, to ensure excellent clinical outcomes. The post holder will provide constructive feedback to team members, role model best practice, and support the professional development of staff through effective leadership, supervision and mentorship.
The Ward Sister/Charge Nurse will also play an active role in quality improvement and service development, working alongside the Clinical Nurse Manager and wider multidisciplinary team to audit clinical standards and drive continuous improvement. They will help foster a positive working environment where patients consistently receive the highest standard of care.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Mardon Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit, based within the beautiful surroundings of Mardon House, Exeter. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dedicated inpatient neuro-rehabilitation team.
Mardon Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit provides specialist inpatient rehabilitation for adults with complex neurological conditions, supporting patients to maximise their independence, recovery and quality of life. Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in coordinating and delivering personalised rehabilitation programmes while supporting patients and their families throughout their rehabilitation journey.
As a clinical team leader, you will be responsible for maintaining high professional and patient safety standards, providing leadership, guidance and supervision to colleagues, and ensuring care is delivered in line with individual patient needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a forward-thinking nurse who is passionate about neuro-rehabilitation, quality improvement and delivering outstanding patient-centred care within a specialist rehabilitation environment.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, rostered shifts 7 days a week /24 hour a day
