Role Summary
The post holder will be part of a team of doctors including one FY2, 2 specialty doctors and five consultants. There are five clinical nurse specialists and two support nurses.
The post holder will work in Urology over a six month period. The roles include in-patients care in the ward, support foundation doctor, participate in daytime rota for urology.
The post holder is expected to assess and manage acute patients with support from specialty doctor and consultants. Participation in elective activities e.g outpatient, endoscopy, day surgery and in-patient theatre are strongly encouraged.
There is monthly department and education/clinical governance meetings in urology. The post holder is expected to attend and contribute to these meetings.

We are looking for one post at core surgical training equivalent level one/two to work in the surgical specialities at our friendly and supportive District General Hospital. The post available is within Urology starting as soon as possible for 12 months fixed term initially.
Both the Trust and the Departments have a commitment to personal and professional development for each trainee / trust doctor. We encourage and enable all doctors (whether locum or substantive) to gain required competencies and offer advice on preparation of a portfolio, which can be used as evidence to support applications to further Specialty Training.
For applicants wishing to take up the post, appropriate clinical supervision, training and support will be provided and the department is familiar with the full range of trainees and portfolios.
Our Medical Education Department is readily available to offer support.
Applicants for this programme must hold a medical degree from an institution recognised by the GMC. They must have full GMC registration and a licence to practise. They should be able to demonstrate evidence of ability to undertake the core clinical and generic skills required of all doctors at the end of Foundation Training, as documented in the FP Curriculum. Applicants must be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate in English in a clinical environment.
