We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our established Clinical Coding Team at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The Clinical Coding Team is responsible for the extraction and translation of inpatient Clinical information using the ICD-10 and OPCS Coding Classifications. This information is essential for the effective management of the Trust and crucial to the National Tariff Payment System that underpins Trust income. Coded data is also important for clinical audit, governance and research.

The role requires you to be methodical, have excellent analytical skills and be able to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail during prolonged periods of concentration. Through self-directed study and supported training, managed and delivered by our Clinical Coding Trainer, you will have the opportunity to obtain your professional qualification and become an Accredited Clinical Coder. A six month probationary period will apply.

Applications for Band 4:

Role will be considered from Clinical Coders who are not ACC qualified but are currently working in the role. You will be working towards obtaining your qualification at present or be committed to doing so on joining us and you must have attended a Clinical Coding Standards Course within the last 2 years. A six month probationary period will apply.

Applications for a Band 5:

Role will be considered from ACC qualified coders only (professional qualification - Institute of Health Records and Information Management) and you must demonstrate experience of coding across a wide range of specialities for an acute NHS Trust as well as evidence of attending a refresher course in the last 2-3 years. A six month probationary period will apply.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, remote and flexible working options available to ACC qualified coders. Trainees Mon- Fri 8am - 4pm

As a team we offer a flexible approach to working. A combination of site based and remote opportunities are available. Working patterns can be varied to suit individual personal commitments and a healthy work/life balance.

Due to the recent implementation of the Trust’s full Electronic Patient Record, Epic, we are now able to support agile/hybrid working, with most of the Team having the opportunity to work remotely. There is a dedicated Coding office available at both our Eastern and Northern sites should you prefer office working and for trainee coders you will be required to work from the office whilst you undertake training but there will be opportunities to work form home during this period.
