Two Cancer Screening and Early Diagnosis Engagement Practitioners

Role Summary

We are seeking 2 enthusiastic and proactive Cancer Screening and Early Diagnosis Engagement Practitioners to join our Royal Devon Partnerships team with the posts separately covering the communities around our Northern and Eastern hospital sites. This is a newly developed role working across communities and partner organisations to promote the uptake of cancer screening and reduce health inequalities.

You will play a pivotal role in raising awareness of the three national screening programmes (Breast, Cervical and Bowel), identifying and addressing barriers to access, and collaborating with key stakeholders to deliver targeted health promotion initiatives. The postholder will work closely with internal Occupational Health Teams to support screening uptake among Trust staff, and with Primary Care, Peninsula Cancer Alliance, and local community organisations to support local delivery plans.

About the Role

This is a dynamic and outward-facing role focused on increasing cancer screening uptake across the local population through engagement, communication and collaboration. You will support the development and delivery of evidence-based health improvement campaigns, apply behavioural change methods, and tailor approaches to vulnerable and under-served communities.

You will also:

- Work with the Cancer Alliance and Primary Care Networks to align activity with early diagnosis and screening priorities.

- Develop communication materials, attend events, and deliver training sessions to build awareness and understanding of cancer screening.

- Analyse screening uptake data, evaluate campaign impact, and contribute to reports for local and regional stakeholders.

- Engage with patients, staff, and community representatives to co-design solutions that improve equitable access to screening services.

You will be confident in building relationships, facilitating change, and working with stakeholders at all levels to ensure meaningful, person-centred impact.

Contract: 2 year fixed term (from the date of appointment)

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week (full-time)
