Role Summary

  • To work with a team of Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy staff to provide a comprehensive service to Wards and Departments
  • To be a part of a rotational programme, providing a Pharmacy Service to Surgical Wards, Medical Wards, Paediatric Wards, Community Hospitals, Technical Services, Mental Health Services and Primary Care Networks (PCN)
  • To fulfil dispensary duties, including clinical checking of prescriptions, final checking of dispensed items and clinical trials work
  • Provide medicines advice to Healthcare professionals, patients and their carers
  • Undertake medicine information queries
  • Undertake the post graduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma
  • Provide weekend and out of hours on-call pharmacy services

This is a development role with plenty of learning opportunities within a welcoming, committed and aspiring department, with a strong team-working and patient-focused culture that will allow you to improve your medicines expertise and work at the cutting edge of patient care. This role is suitable for those who have recently passed their registration assessment, those looking to move from primary to secondary care, or those returning to pharmacy practice.

You will be part of a team of Rotational Pharmacists covering a range of clinical and core services. You will gain a wide range of experience including dispensary, aseptic services, community services, medicines information and on call duties. Clinical duties will include Cardiology, Respiratory, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Gastroenterology, Acute Medicine, Acute Surgery, Care of the elderly. Learning from our Senior and Specialist Pharmacists and alongside our team of experienced Medicines Management Technicians.

The successful candidate will benefit from our in-house training programme. This will be supplemented by support for an appropriate postgraduate qualification such as clinical certificate or diploma and scope to complete an independent prescribing qualification.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. This role also involves on-call duties and weekend and bank holiday rosters.
