Role Summary

• The Research Nurse will work as part of the clinical research team to support the safe conduct of research in in accordance with the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice guidelines and provide assurance that the rights, safety and well-being of trial participants are protected. 

• Work with the research team to plan, implement, organise and manage concurrent research projects. 

• Develop networks with Multidisciplinary Teams across the Trust and other appropriate regional and national agencies. 

• Coordinate and manage the relevant study portfolio and deliver recruitment accrual in line with performance and monitoring objectives. 

• Implement and monitor clinical requirements associated with research to ensure optimum delivery of clinical trials. 

• Ensure that all research procedures are conducted according to study protocols and will be accountable for the care of research participants with a focus on providing a quality experience. 

• Responsible for own workload for the screening, recruitment, consent, data collection and retention of patients into research studies. Workloads will be flexible and at times will involve cross divisional support of other research teams and a flexible approach to work. On occasion the post-holder may deputise for the band 6 senior research nurse.

We are looking for a Registered Nurse who wants to work within the area of Clinical Trials specifically on studies involving patients who are accessing the haematological cancer services. 

Working within Clinical Trials is a challenging yet rewarding role which involves working on studies that will potentially impact on patient treatments of the future.  The Research & Development Team are a close-knit team and work collaboratively with clinical teams within the hospital.

This is a substantive; full-time post and we are looking for someone who has good clinical skills in the field of Cancer Services and wants to develop in the area of Clinical Trials, as we provide a thorough induction in research understanding, methodology and techniques and the specific clinical areas. You will be working closely with patients while they undertake their research journeys and work on a variety of clinical trials, observational studies and registries.  Alternatively, if you have research experience and a solid understanding of cancer services, we would also be interested in hearing from you.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 09.00-17.00, there will be some flexibility with hours and there may be some requirement to work evenings or at a weekend, this would be dependant on the trial and the patient availability but is not the norm.
