Role Summary

These roles are for newly qualified Midwives, registered with the NMC, looking to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills as part of a proactive and supportive multi-professional team. We have some permanent posts and some fixed term (1 year) posts available -please use this application for both. The roles will be based in the acute unit for the first 6 months and then there may be an opportunity for some posts to be within our Integrated teams. We are unable to support any applications for sponsorship at this time.

Seeking newly qualified Midwives, registered with the NMC to join our proactive and supportive multi-professional team, at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Healthcare Trust -East..in Exeter. The successful candidates will undertake our 'Acorn to Oak' preceptorship package in conjunction with preceptees in RDHU North, based In Barnstaple. The formal preceptorship study days will be undertaken in Tiverton and clinical experience gained in your respective units. However, there may be the opportunity for some clinical experience in each unit if requested by preceptees.

A number of our posts will be fixed term contracts for the first year- however, should substantive posts become available within that year these will be offered to staff on a fixed term contract. 

There is an expectation that the successful candidates will have completed the preceptorship programme at the end of the year and then be able to transition to a Band 6 post.

The trust operates a 6 month probationary period.

Working Pattern: The job includes working days 07:30-20:30, and nights 20:00 -08:00 on a rotational basis to meet the needs of the service. Our Integrated teams also work 09:00-17:00 and occasionally 08:00-20:00. These posts are for 30 to 37.5 hours per week.
