Are you interested in Respiratory Physiotherapy Clinical Leadership, the assessment and treatment of Acutely unwell patients, rehabilitation in an Acute setting and the development of staff?
We are looking for a two dynamic Physiotherapy Advanced Practitioners to provide Clinical and Operational leadership to the Acute Respiratory Medical Team.
The post holders will work across Respiratory, Cardiology, Medical Assessment Unit, and Acute Medicine including the calls to the Emergency Department.
The post holder will work with the Respiratory Occupational Therapy Advanced Practitioner to supporting an integrated team of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy staff.

The Medical Respiratory team sits within the Acute Inpatient Therapy team alongside the other sub teams of Surgical (Critical care, Surgery, Paediatrics) Trauma and Orthopaedics, Medical Rehabilitation services (Frailty, Gastroenterology) and Respiratory Physiotherapy Outpatients.
There will be a requirement to support the wider Respiratory team in the absence of the Advanced Practitioner for Critical care, Surgery and Paediatrics.
You will be required to ensure delivery of high quality patient centred care measured by clinical effectiveness, patient safety and patient experience in line with national guidance.
You will be expected to work as an autonomous practitioner, be up to date with evidence-based practice and be able to offer advanced assessment and treatment skills of patients who are acutely unwell.
The post holder will be required to work with the other Advanced Practitioners to provide teaching of respiratory competencies to enable staff to work on the on call rotas and provide an education programme for the Specialist Physiotherapists to enable staff to maintain competencies and the development depth of knowledge.
You will be responsible for ensuring excellence with in the team by initiating and participating in evidence-based projects and audit, to improve both immediate and future quality of care.
The main duties of the job are :
- To provide Clinical leadership including supporting the on call Respiratory roster.
- To work with the Service lead, Physiotherapy Advanced Practitioners, Occupational Therapy Advanced Practitioners and other professionals to develop the service.
- To ensure quality, clinical effectiveness and patient safety.
- To be involved in an active training programme.
- To be active in Service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance.
About You
You will be required to have experience at working in Acute Medicine and treating acutely unwell patients. As part of the role there will be a need to provide advanced physiotherapy advice to the team and other disciplines / agencies. You will need to be able to cope with demands on your time with frequent interruptions.

Training and development and Career Progression
The trust is keen to support staff to develop strong leadership and clinical skills through clinical supervision, internal and external continuing professional developments.
There is a requirement of this post holder to demonstrate post graduate training at MSC level. We are continuing to develop links with Universities to support staff with training and development.
There is an opportunity for this post to be considered as a development post.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. 8.30 - 16.30 including evening and weekend Respiratory On call.
