As a Band 7 team member, you will be involved in both ESP and First Contact Physiotherapy (MSK) clinics, working across different settings in Exeter and East Devon. Your role will include:

  • Working in an Orthopaedic Interface Service supporting the Exeter Hip and Knee teams.
  • Delivering First Contact Practitioner (MSK) services in local Primary Care Networks within Exeter and East Devon.

This maternity cover position is offered on a fixed term contract for one year, with both full-time and part-time hours available. In-house staff may also have the opportunity for a secondment.

You will be working within a large, supportive team of Band 7 and Band 8s, with regular supervision and training sessions provided. You will be mentored to sign off local competencies for running Hip/Knee ESP clinics.  You will also receive assistance to work towards Stage 1 & 2 sign-off for the FCP Roadmap, as set out by HEE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver MSK services in both GP and Community Hospital settings.
  • Act as first point of contact for MSK patients in GP practices
  • Undertake assessments and develop treatment plans for patients with undifferentiated musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Assess and manage patients referred into the Orthopaedic pathway with hip or knee pathology
  • Take responsibility for requesting imaging and other investigations as required and covered by local protocols
  • Provide specialist advice and support to GP surgeries and community hospitals in Exeter and East Devon.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.

About You:

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Extensive experience in MSK Physiotherapy.
  • Experience of Level 7 study
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • To be mobile within Exeter and the areas covered by the Eastern service

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months. For current NHS employees this post could be a secondment opportunity.
