Role Summary

The Day Surgery Unit is located on 2 levels. The lower floor (Lower Ground) comprises of the Reception area, Preparation for Surgery, 5 Single Rooms, 5 bay Ward, Theatre 1 and Recovery. The upper floor (Ground) comprises Theatres 2&3 and Recovery.

The Unit is open Monday - Friday 08:00 - 19:00, with both morning and afternoon theatre lists covering a wide range of specialities under general, regional and local anaesthesia. Specialities are: General Surgery including Upper GI, Colorectal and Vascular, Renal, Urology, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Plastics, Oral and Pain Management.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, dedicated Registered Theatre Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner to join our friendly Heavitree Day case unit Theatre team. The successful candidate will plan and manage the implementation of individual care programmes for patients as part of the team within the Day Surgery Unit at Heavitree with the flexibility to support the other Day Surgery Units if required.

The successful applicant will be valuable in delivering high quality care in a professional and friendly environment.

This post requires enthusiasm, motivation, excellent communication skills and a commitment to work flexibly within a multidisciplinary team. It will also allow a great work life balance as there are no unsociable hours including weekends, bank holidays or nights.
