Role Summary

The Maternity Support Worker will work as a member of the maternity team. Maternity Support Workers will work under the supervision of Midwives and Senior Maternity Support Workers. Their responsibility will be to maintain a clean environment and equipment and support women with general hygiene, observations, urinalysis, infant feeding and infant care. In addition you will support the obstetric theatres.

In the Antenatal clinic, Maternity Support Workers will support doctors and midwives undertaking observations, venepuncture and urinalysis.

We are looking to recruit Band 2 Maternity Support Workers for our service. We have a number of vacancies within our service including full, part-time, substantive and 12 month  fixed term posts.

The role will cover Inpatients on Labour Ward and the Antenatal/ Postnatal Ward. In addition we are recruiting for the  outpatients service  in the Antenatal Clinic. The roles are  based in the hospital at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (North). We are looking for maternity support workers that are enthusiastic and can demonstrate the ability to work well as part of a team. The role of maternity support worker is a privileged position to be able to offer service uses within our care.

The Trust is seeking to align with the National Framework of providing access to further development for Band 3.

Inpatients Maternity Support Workers will work a shifted pattern including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Outpatient maternity support workers will work Monday - Friday (days). Weekends by exception.

Working Pattern: Inpatient services variety of shifts. Long are 11.5hrs and short are 7.5hrs covering day, night and weekends. Antenatal Clinic Monday - Friday 8-5. 07.00- 14.40, 14.00-21.50, 2100-0730 or 07.00-19.30, 19.00-07.30
