Role Summary

This is a pivotal post within Cancer Services at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (RDUH). The primary purpose of this post is to effectively plan and coordinate the daily running and management of the Fern Centre at RDUH. With the supervision of the Clinical Matron for Cancer Services in liaison with the Head of Charity Fundraising for the Royal Devon Hospitals Charity.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join The Fern Centre based at North Devon District Hospital. This will involve working closely with the NHS and Royal Devon Hospitals Charity.

At the Fern Centre we are passionate about supporting cancer patients and their families. The successful post holder will possess a deep understanding of the provision, management and development of an integrated and accessible, high quality cancer information and support service that reflects the needs of both service users and stakeholders.

The post holder will have the confidence and initiative to work independently in a Hospital setting. They must be calm and competent under pressure, able to manage a large caseload. The post holder will interact daily with people (and their families) living with cancer, many of whom will only recently been diagnosed.

Responsibilities include the day-to-day management of a responsive, user-focused service; supervision, support and deployment of staff/volunteers, and dealing with complex enquiries and support needs of the service users. The post holder will need to plan, develop and promote the service, ensuring that service user feedback and operational knowledge contributes to service improvements.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week
