More detail about the role

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a highly motivated and organised Service Coordinator to join the Trauma & Orthopaedics administration team and play a pivotal role in the continued growth of the South West Ambulatory Orthopaedic Centre (SWAOC) Knee Service.

This new role sits at the heart of the Trust’s elective recovery programme and offers the chance to make a tangible difference to patients awaiting knee replacement surgery. As the service expands, you will help drive the delivery of dedicated surgical capacity for high-volume, low-complexity knee arthroplasty, supporting an innovative ambulatory care model that is transforming the way orthopaedic care is delivered across the region.

The SWAOC model is built on efficiency, innovation and excellence, creating streamlined pathways that maximise patient flow, standardisation and surgical throughput. The Knee Service plays a vital role in protecting elective capacity, sustaining dedicated operating lists, supporting day-case and short-stay pathways, and ensuring patients receive timely treatment despite the pressures often faced by acute hospital sites.

Working collaboratively with consultants, clinicians and operational colleagues, you will be at the centre of the patient journey—coordinating pathways, managing waiting lists, supporting theatre scheduling and helping patients progress smoothly and confidently through every stage of their care. Your contribution will be instrumental in maximising theatre utilisation, increasing surgical activity and delivering meaningful improvements in access to treatment.

We are seeking an experienced administrator with exceptional organisational and communication skills, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and a genuine commitment to delivering outstanding patient experiences. Experience of patient pathways, RTT management, waiting list coordination and EPIC would be advantageous.

This is more than an administrative role; it is an opportunity to be part of an ambitious and forward-thinking transformation programme that is reshaping elective orthopaedic services. If you are passionate about improving patient outcomes, reducing long waits and contributing to innovative healthcare delivery, we would love to hear from you.

Working Pattern: Monday-Friday, between the hours 8am - 5pm (Every Tuesday at Nightingale Hospital)

Interview Date: Thursday 29th October 2026
