The Royal Devon University Trust is keen to appoint a Consultant in Perioperative Medicine with a specialist interest in Care of the Elderly and/or Anaesthesia.

Building on the success of our orthogeriatric service, we wish to expand our service to optimise perioperative care for acute surgical patient. The appointee would be working with an Intensive care and Perioperative Consultant and in partnership with an Acute Medical and Anaesthetic Consultant. The Perioperative Service has strong links with our Geriatric Medicine department. The work of this team is challenging and exciting, requiring the breadth of geriatric/general medical skills together with the ability to work across medical and surgical multidisciplinary departments. We have joined the NHS elect POPs 2 cohort, which is a shared development program aimed at developing our perioperative service in line with national guidance and other evidence- based models across the country. The successful applicant would be expected to have a leadership role to continue this ambitious project, which is well supported at executive level.

This post would be managed by the Acute Surgery department and the incumbent would be an integral member of the General Surgical team.

Working Pattern: 10 PA's

The full-time NHS post currently does not include an out-of-hours on call rota, although this may be subject to change depending on service expansion
