Role Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and innovative Registered Nurse or Practitioner to join our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team as an Audit & Surveillance Specialist. The team is based at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Eastern Services) and provides a service across all sites, including the Acute Hospital, Exeter Nightingale Hospital, Community settings, Mental Health Services and to other providers.
Infection surveillance is a very challenging, essential and ever-changing component of Healthcare. The main duty of the team within the IPC service is to provide the Trust’s mandatory and voluntary audit and surveillance programme. This includes working within tight protocols and definitions as defined by UK Health Security Agency, NHS England and other professional bodies as well as local initiatives. Our key areas of work focus on the surveillance of bacteraemia and surgical site infection but we are also involved in many other projects such as hand hygiene and peripheral venous cannula care auditing.
We are looking for someone committed to evidence-based practice with an ability to interrogate data. The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and as part of our existing team to identify opportunities for change and contribute to improvement work which embeds good IPC into clinical practice.
