Role Summary

Provide a proactive and professional welcome to the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust on a Ward or Reception area, acting as the public face for the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

  • Provide a professional, efficient and effective reception and appointment booking service to patients and visitors in accordance with Trust policies and standards.
  • Deliver an efficient administrative and clerical service to the Ward Team 
  • Undertake general clerical duties
  • Maintain effective communication to both patients, relatives and staff in order to ensure the smooth running of a clinical area, including wards or outpatient clinic areas; enhancing patient care.
  • Ensure all information is secure and confidentiality of information is maintained at all times
  • Provide excellent customer care which may include communication with distressed and anxious patients and relatives, treating them with tact and empathy

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Oncology and Haematology Administrative Service as a Welcome Clerk. We are looking to recruit a professional individual who can provide efficient and effective administrative support to both the Reception or Ward areas. This is a varied role supporting the multi-disciplinary team across the specialities within Cancer Services.

The post holder will be required to demonstrates strong administration and IT skills along with excellent communication skills. It is essential you remain calm under pressure and show empathy when dealing with patients and relatives who can be distressed. 

Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to provide a patient focus service is paramount along with a flexible approach to work. If you are looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to positively improve the patient experience, this could be the role for you.

Working Pattern: The working hours are 37.5 per week worked over 4 days currently between Monday and Friday 07:45 – 17:45 for 3 days and one day of 07:45 - 17:15, the day off will be negotiated with the Team Leader.

There is an expectation to work some Bank Holidays and possibly a Saturday subject to the needs of the service.
