Role Summary

The role will cover all aspects of acute inpatient care of children and neonates, attending deliveries of sick term and preterm infants on delivery suite and seeing unwell patients in the Emergency Department and resus when required. The shift pattern will include long days, night shifts and weekend cover. Candidates will have the opportunity to attend outpatient specialty clinics (renal, epilepsy, respiratory) and take part in audit/research activities within the department. The post holder will be required to manage the paediatric ward, assessment unit and level 1 neonatal unit with a junior doctor on a rotational basis.

Applications are invited for a Trust Doctor in Paediatrics. This post is available immediately, initially for a 6 month period with the option of further extension for the right candidate.

The role will cover all aspects of acute inpatient care of children and neonates, attending deliveries of sick term and preterm infants on delivery suite and seeing unwell patients in the Emergency Department and resus when required. The shift pattern will include long days, night shifts and weekend cover. Candidates will have the opportunity to attend outpatient specialty clinics (renal, epilepsy, respiratory) and take part in audit/research activities within the department. The post holder will be required to manage the paediatric ward, assessment unit and level 1 neonatal unit with a junior doctor on a rotational basis.

We have an opportunity for you to gain experience in a variety of sub specialties as we run SPIN modules and support training including CESR programme. It is a 6 person rota 4 trainees and 2 Specialty Doctors.

We encourage quality improvement and would support you in undertaking a project which covers your area of interest. There will also be opportunities to become involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
