More detail about the role:

The Oncology Centre is located on the Wonford site in Exeter. We operate three Varian TrueBeam Linacs, having recently completed our equipment refreshment programme. We also operate a Canon Wide Bore CT scanner and an Eclipse planning system to facilitate the planning and delivery of external beam treatment. The external beam radiotherapy service is paperless, utilising the Varian Aria administration system for service delivery. We offer a wide range of Brachytherapy services and superficial skin treatment.

Our service has undergone significant transformation over the past few years, including the commissioning of a SABR service for primary lung disease and several oligometastatic disease sites supported by a robust IGRT programme. Further imaging and treatment developments, to include 4DCBCT, gated CBCT and 6 DoF couches are being facilitated by the equipment refresh and will be implemented clinically over the coming year. We are also actively involved in a broad range of clinical radiotherapy trials.

As a Band 5 Radiographer you will participate in the day-to-day provision of a safe, high quality external beam treatment service, including the extensive use of IMRT, IGRT and DIBH techniques. You will also rotate through other areas of the department, including pre-treatment (CT scanning) and brachytherapy, allowing the opportunity to develop a broad range of clinical radiotherapy experiences, and be involved in the training and education of student Radiographers.

Working Pattern: Our department operates an extended working day, and so the ability to work flexibly to participate in shift working to cover service hours is essential. Participation in the provision of a bank holiday and weekend on call service is also required.
