More detail about the role

The Oncology Centre is located on the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's site in Exeter. We operate three matched Varian Truebeam Linacs, all with full imaging and 6 DoF capabilities. We are in the process of replacing our CT with a Canon Wide Bore CT scanner which will complete our equipment refresh programme. An Eclipse planning system facilitates the planning and delivery of external beam treatment. The external beam radiotherapy service is paperless utilising the Varian Aria administration system for service delivery. We also offer a wide range of Brachytherapy services, to include gynaecological and interstitial prostate treatments.

Our service has undergone significant transformation over the past few years, including the commissioning of SABR for both primary and oligometastatic disease, gated treatments and the implementation of portal dosimetry and 6 DoF couches. Further imaging and treatment developments are ongoing including the introduction of 4DCBCT for lung and abdominal sites. We are actively involved in a broad range of clinical radiotherapy trials.

The successful candidate will be an experienced, organised Therapeutic Radiographer who will play a key role in the continuing development of our IGRT programme, working in close partnership with their fellow Team Lead and Operational Lead Radiographers as well as the wider MDT. They will act as an expert practitioner and provide clinical leadership within this area of practice to ensure the delivery of timely and high-quality patient care.

As a department we are committed to continuing education and role extension. We have completed training programmes for two Consultant Radiographers positions and actively support our staff with their postgraduate education.

Our department operates an extended working day, and so the ability to work flexibly to participate in shift working to cover service hours is essential. Participation in the provision of a bank holiday and weekend on call service is also required.

If you are an experienced Team Lead wanting to enjoy all the Southwest has to offer, or looking for the next challenge in your career, we’d love to hear from you.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week,

Interview Date: To be confirmed.
