An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled, experienced Physiotherapist to jointly lead the Physiotherapy Team working in Stroke at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Eastern).

Based within the heart of beautiful Devon and just off the M5, Exeter has a lot to offer, with a stunning coastline and picturesque moors within throwing distance of the city.

This 12-month fixed term position will involve undertaking comprehensive assessments of patients admitted to the stroke unit and providing specialist neuro-physiotherapy interventions to patients across the acute and rehabilitation beds for stroke. It also involves undertaking assessment of respiratory conditions, supporting any medical outliers that are admitted and assessing the patient’s functional ability, liaising with patients, their support networks and wider agencies to plan and facilitate effective discharges from the acute hospital environment.

Whilst the post holder will frequently be expected to work as an autonomous practitioner there will be strong links with the multidisciplinary team working in the hospital. There is a requirement to provide supervision, training and support to junior staff and students. There will also be an opportunity to work with managers to develop the service in line with patient need and trust wide developments.

This full-time post carries an expectation to work flexibly over 7 days, including weekend and on-call commitments.

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 8:15-16:30 (weekends, bank holiday and on-call duties on a rota basis)

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months. For current NHS employees this post could be a secondment opportunity.
