Role Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled, experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy team working in Enhanced Supportive Care, Renal & Cancer services at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust on a fixed term 12-month position.
The post holder will carry a Clinical caseload of complex patients and work closely with the MDT to provide holistic interventions and complex discharge planning to patients within Cancer Services and across Medicine. Closely associated with this is the need for communication of complex conditions and related information to patients and relatives. There will be close liaison with the multi-disciplinary teams in both the acute service and the community. An understanding of community services, 3rd sector and other voluntary organisations will be required.
The post-holder is responsible for their own workload within the ESC designated Clinical area on a day-to-day basis which will involve running outpatient clinics, supporting pts in other OP areas such as Oncology/Haematology Clinics, Radiotherapy & Day Case and providing ESC intervention for appropriate inpatients. Caseloads will be flexible and at times will involve the provision of service to other areas of the Trust. This will occur particularly when working at weekends.

The post-holder is responsible for providing leadership and clinical expertise to patients based on the Renal and Cancer services wards as well as providing comprehensive assessment and specialist interventions within the specialist area of Enhanced Supportive Care (ESC).
The post holder will be required to provide cover across a range of the medical wards including renal and oncology areas. Caseloads will vary but require expert assessment, treatment and advice and will include complex discharge planning for patients with both acute and chronic long-term conditions. In addition, they will provide advice, direction and support to other wards as necessary within the medical directorate.
The post-holder will be responsible for teaching and leadership within this Renal and Cancer services team as well as the ESC team, working alongside the Physiotherapy Team Leads and Clinical Lead and will support and deputise in their absence. The post-holder will be responsible for the management and supervision of the Occupational Therapists across medicine and will ensure appropriate service provision on a daily basis, liaising with the Clinical Leads at all times.
The post-holder is responsible for his/her own workload within the ESC designated clinical area on a day-to-day basis which will involve running outpatient Clinics, supporting patients in other Outpatient areas such as Oncology/Haematology Clinics, Radiotherapy & Day Case and providing ESC intervention for appropriate inpatients. They will be required to attend and contribute to a weekly MDT and triage meeting and to complete relevant data collection and service development.
The post-holder is responsible for their own workload within the designated clinical area on a day-to-day basis; and will be required to work regularly at weekends and bank holidays. Caseloads will be flexible and at times will involve the provision of service to other areas of the Trust.
Working Pattern: The post holder will be willing to work flexibly across seven days as required and where the service requires, Weekends and Bank holidays are on a rota basis. The post-holder must be able to work across trust sites.
