This supra-regional programme of activity will link into the national RATER programme and is seeking an experienced dementia research rater to lead the development of a growing community of supra-regional PLFs and local raters across the four LCRNs. Time for this position will be distributed equally between the four local CRNs and will involve a mix of working virtually and face-to-face when appropriate.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic Rater Trainer with a keen interest in supporting the National RATER programme. The role will involve leading the development of a growing community of supra-regional Practice Lead Facilitators (PLF's)and local Raters across the four Local Clinical Research Networks (LCRN's). You will take the lead on agreed Rater projects that deliver the strategic objectives of the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) in South West England. This post is a unique opportunity to enhance the learning and development of the research workforce across the four local CRNs of Thames Valley & South Midlands, Wessex, West of England and South West Peninsula. This post will be key to ensuring the success of the collaboration.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is funded through the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research. The NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) coordinates and supports the delivery of clinical research in the NHS and the wider health and social care environment, and supports patients, the public, and health and care organisations across England to participate in high-quality research. This role is hosted by Royal Devon University Hospital Trust (RDUH) on behalf of the network.

Main Duties

This Supra-Regional Rater Training Lead will co-ordinate the programme of activity and link into the national RATER programme, leading the development of a growing community of supra-regional PLFs and local raters across the four LCRNs. The post holder will support the learning and development of supra-regional identified raters to gain sufficient experience of delivering dementia research scales/assessments to reach a level of competency required to work on commercial research trials. The role will require building collaborative working relationships with key organisations and stakeholders to progress local rater opportunities and projects. Time for this position will be distributed equally between the four local CRNs and will involve a mix of working virtually and face-to-face when appropriate.

The post holder will work closely with the supra-regional CRN Workforce Development Leads, Dementia Specialty Leads, and Dementia Research Delivery Managers to obtain workforce intelligence data and support workforce planning for the supra-network region. Benchmarking the existing LCRN Rater training programmes to help inform the strategy for the development of competencies and education programmes to ensure quality and consistency in practice across the supra-region.

Working Pattern: Full Time 37.5 hrs
