  • To work as part of the EMOS multidisciplinary team to assess and treat patients with obesity alongside other specialist obesity dietitians.
  • To contribute to education and training of other healthcare professionals and students.
  • To contribute to the development of the dietetic EMOS service within the Royal Devon and Exeter Foundation Trust.

Are you an experienced dietitian looking for an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of a tier three weight management team?

An opportunity has arisen to join our team at the MacLeod Diabetes and Endocrine Centre (MDEC) within the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Eastern services. This is a permanent post for 30 hours per week with flexible working opportunities. As a team we seek out development opportunities and attend relevant courses and conferences as well as regularly networking with other services.  

MDEC cares for adults and young people with diabetes and endocrine disorders and provides the local tier three weight management service - Exeter Medical Obesity Service (EMOS).  We are a forward-thinking department with close links to the prominent Exeter Medical School and R&D.

We are looking for an experienced dietitian with a keen, compassionate interest in weight management. You will join our dynamic team working alongside four other specialist obesity/diabetes dietitians and be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.  The EMOS MDT is made up of Dietitians, Medical Consultants and Clinical Psychologists with strong links to the local Talking Therapies teams. We also work collaboratively with the Diabetes team, who are based in the same building.

Within EMOS, the post holder will provide dietetic expertise, which includes core psychological skills such as motivational interviewing and psychological formulation, to patients in order to facilitate progression towards sustainable weight loss, with or without bariatric surgery, as well as post-surgery dietetic care.

You will be expected to undertake specialist assessment and treatment planning within structured patient pathways and service policies and to deliver a range of treatment options, both individually and in groups. You will participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, dietetic team meetings and contribute to the education and training of other healthcare professionals and students. Excellent team-working skills are required to work collaboratively with the wider team, promoting the value of dietetics.

Working pattern: 30 hours per week (0.8 WTE)

Salary:  AfC Band 6   £33,706- £40,588 per annum/pro rata
