Role Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, creative, passionate, forward thinking Pharmacy Technician with excellent organisational and communication skills. The position requires an individual who can manage their own time and workload effectively to support procurement/homecare operations.

The ideal candidate will have current practical knowledge of pharmacy procurement and/or homecare, but with a desire to increase their understanding in this area. The ability to line manage pharmacy personnel is also an essential part of this role.  

There is huge scope in this role to help implement new ideas in the procurement and homecare sections, and opportunity to take the lead on change initiatives. You will be supported in improving your own knowledge and skills as well as in developing processes within these services. You must be currently registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician with previous hospital experience.

This post provides a unique opportunity to join the pharmacy team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and undertake a variety of duties in support of both the procurement and homecare teams. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of these growth areas within pharmacy, working with the lead technicians for both teams to move the service forward. 

The post holder will be embedded into the procurement and homecare teams, providing vital support to ensure the effective management of these services.

Job Description

  • To act as a deputy to the Lead Technicians of Procurement and Homecare. To provide support in the co-ordination and management of the operational procurement and Homecare teams and provide leadership, motivation and direction.
  • To maintain and regularly review the SOP’s relating to Procurement and Homecare and ensure knowledge and compliance within the two teams. 

 

  • To support and assist the Lead Technicians with all innovations, projects and changes that are designed to improve the efficiency of the working practices in both Homecare and Procurement.

 

  • To assist in the investigation of stock balance discrepancies identified throughout the department in accordance with the SOP and liaise with the Distribution and Procurement staff to find and implement a solution.

 

  • To collect, analyse and demonstrate KPI’s for both Homecare and Procurement and act as a representative for Pharmacy Governance meetings.

 

  • To develop and maintain training schedules for staff and ensure staff are up to date with the relevant mandatory and operational competencies.

 

  • To process invoices within the Trust financial system and trouble shoot any discrepancies. To assist with homecare prescription management, validation checks, and forwarding prescriptions to homecare providers. To maintain the homecare procurement contracts within the pharmacy system.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Requirement to participate in 7 day working to include late duties, bank holidays and weekend working.
