This role sits within the Eastern Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS), supporting patients as they transition from inpatient care to rehabilitation in the community. The team delivers high-quality, patient-centred neurorehabilitation, enabling individuals to continue their recovery at home.
We are committed to delivering intensive, goal-oriented rehabilitation aligned with national stroke guidelines. This includes developing innovative approaches such as telerehabilitation and group therapy to enhance access, intensity, and continuity of care.
You will have the opportunity to build expertise in specialist interventions including treadmill training, functional electrical stimulation (FES), and spasticity management. You will also contribute to local and regional service improvement projects aimed at increasing rehabilitation intensity and improving patient outcomes.
About the team
The Eastern ICSS is a collaborative, forward-thinking multidisciplinary team, working closely with colleagues across nursing, medicine, speech and language therapy, and social care. We are passionate about service development and continuously seek new ways to improve patient care.
Our approach focuses on supporting self-management, secondary prevention, and long-term condition management, working in partnership with patients, carers, and the wider MDT.
Wider Neurorehabilitation Service
The Eastern locality Neurorehabilitation Service includes both the Integrated Community Stroke Service and a Neurorehabilitation outpatient team. This post offers the opportunity to rotate into the outpatient setting, broadening your specialist experience.
We have a strong track record in staff development, with many team members trained to MSc level and clear pathways into advanced clinical practice and consultant AHP roles. You will be joining a service that actively invests in its people and supports career progression.

Innovation
Innovation is central to therapies at the Royal Devon. We have introduced a range of forward-thinking initiatives, including non-traditional roles such as a Research and Innovation Lead.
We actively embrace new techniques and technologies, demonstrated by the implementation of ultrasound-guided injection therapy across orthopaedic and neurological pathways.

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2026-7 rates, inclusive of a 3.3% pay award implemented from April 2026. If you join before this date,, remuneration will be based on the 2025-6 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2025/26 | NHS Employers)
