  • Working with patients with acute and long term neurological conditions; such as MS, ABI, TBI, Spinal Injury, FND, CVE, MND.
  • Moving and handling, seating and postural management, including equipment prescription
  • Patients in Short Term Rehabilitation Beds within Residential and Nursing Homes
  • Patients may have palliative care or end of life needs.

Would you like to join our friendly, dynamic & specialist neurological rehabilitation service in Exeter?  We are seeking a full-time Band 6 substantive Occupational Therapist; part time hours may be considered.

We aim to provide high quality care to maximise independence and quality of life at home through a strength-based approach. We have a supportive network of experienced neurological therapists offering a structured induction, dedicated supervision, shadowing other teams, peer support group and opportunities for career development.

The focus of rehabilitation is paramount to patients which we are proud to support through; individual patient assessments/treatments and neuro rehabilitation groups. We provide a variety of settings for patient treatments including face to face within their own homes, care homes, gym spaces (NHS and Leisure Centres) and also virtual Attend Anywhere and telephone consultations.

Your caseload will involve a variety of patient conditions and needs, including and not exclusively:

  • Working with patients with acute and long term neurological conditions; such as MS, ABI, TBI, Spinal Injury, FND, CVE, MND.
  • Moving and handling, seating and postural management, including equipment prescription
  • Patients in Short Term Rehabilitation Beds within Residential and Nursing Homes
  • Patients may have palliative care or end of life needs. 

There will be an opportunity to provide clinical supervision to rotational staff members as well as clinical support workers. 

The focus of the postholder’s role is community neurological rehabilitation; they will also support the National Ageing Well Agenda, by working within our Urgent Community Response team on a rota basis. This involves doing some shifts between the hours of 8am-8pm, some of which are over a weekend.

The successful candidate will be an autonomous practitioner who is confident with lone working. You will require excellent communication skills, with the ability to prioritise, problem solve and be a team player who is adaptable to change.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours. Some shifts between the hours of 8am-8pm, some of which are over a weekend.
