This is an exciting part-time opportunity to join the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Eastern Services) as part of our outpatient rehabilitation service working on the main Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital site (Wonford).
The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation trust (RDUH – Eastern services) is a welcoming Trust, focussed on valuing a person’s differences and encouraging them to grow and flourish in their role in Healthcare. The post holder will be a member of both the Plastics Rehabilitation team and the Rheumatology / Orthopaedic Team and will be responsible for providing specialised assessment and treatment of hand patients referred by Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedics and Rheumatology, Nursing teams, the Emergency Department , GPs and other Therapists. The nature of the workload will require the post-holder to be flexible regarding working across professional boundaries (with Occupational therapists/Physiotherapists as a Hand Therapist)
Caseload will be variable, but will mostly consist of elective, trauma and conservative hand patients (adult and paediatric) but will also include cancers, congenital deformities, rheumatological and pathological conditions. Patients will be treated in a range of settings including clinics (Consultant and Nursing), the rehabilitation departments (outpatients) and wards (in-patients). The role will involve providing comprehensive assessment and appropriate interventions, including splinting and rehabilitation, as well as advice and clear communication skills for managing complex situations is essential.
Working Pattern: 22.5 hours per week. 08:15 - 16:30 over three days. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. There will be a requirement to work some weekends on a rota basis (approximate frequency 1 weekend day per month).
