Role Summary
General Administrative Responsibilities
- To manage and monitor the in-patient and day case waiting list to ensure that waiting times meet NHS standards and targets, and are managed in line with the Trust Access Policy.
- Coordinate care for patients coming through the new Lung Cancer Optimal Pathway
- To meet patients at initial presentation to the Imaging Department for their chest x-ray via the new National Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway and navigate them through their initial series of investigations as required.
- To provide non-clinical advice and information using good communication skills to navigate patients through what will be a time of great anxiety and where patients may be highly distressed.
- Following up and tracking results and acting on results in a timely, appropriate manner.
- To manage the waiting list to ensure waiting times meet NHS standards and targets, and are managed in line with the Trust Access Policy
- Responsible for identifying patients at risk of not meeting NHS waiting times standards, and to notify the relevant Consultant and escalate to the senior management team as appropriate
- Ensure all Referral to Treatment pathways are correctly completed on PAS in real time
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date patient details are maintained on patient information systems such as PAS in line with Trust Information Governance policy
- Maintain health records and patient files in line with Trust Health Records Policy

This role combines the coordination of a lung nodule service with the medical secretarial duties of the lead consultant within the lung nodule service. The role will therefore combine clerical duties with patient care and communication.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.
Interview Date: To be confirmed planned between Tuesday 9th - Friday 12th May 2023.
