Role Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Glaucoma Unit at Heavitree Hospital as a Service Coordinator in our ophthalmology team. This is a fixed term contract for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
In this important role, you will oversee the day to day management and leadership of the administrative team, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of high quality, patient focused service. You will collaborate closely with clinicians, management, and administrative staff to provide exceptional customer care, whilst supporting the continuous development and improvement of our services.
Main Responsibilities:
Supervise and support the administrative team
Provide excellent customer care, including communication with patients and their relatives/carers
Promote a positive and supportive team culture
Book appointments for acute and urgent patients
Monitor the ophthalmology waiting lists, escalating overdue patients as needed
Use data reports to track and manage waiting lists; report findings to the lead clinician and management team
Identify capacity issues and work proactively to support future service planning
Set up clinics in EPIC and update clinician rotas in MediRota
Escalate issues regarding clinic closures and coordinate with lead clinician to arrange additional clinics where necessary
Attend and contribute to regular team and service meetings
Take minutes as needed
