Role Summary
- The role will coordinate and organise the attendance of patients to outpatient, inpatient & day case appointments in line with local team and Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust arrangements as instructed
- Ensure all administrative processes; and enquiries are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner, following agreed standard operating procedures, escalating to senior manager as appropriate
- Undertake general clerical duties to maximise all available capacity in an appropriate way
- Proof reading clinical letters (please note there is no audio typing in this role)
- Monitoring waiting times, ensuring that our patients’ treatment pathways, from referral to treatment are accurate and up to date (for more information on what this means please visit - NHS England » Referral to treatment)
- Ensure all information is secure and confidentiality of information is maintained at all times
- Provide excellent customer care which may include communication with distressed and anxious patients and relatives, treating them with tact and empathy. Hospitals visits can be stressful and daunting – you will need to be good communicator with strong customer service skills
- Assisting and supporting, including cross covering, other members of the Administrative team across the Department or Division, including dealing with telephone calls and resolving enquiries

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of our friendly and welcoming teams within the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre.
We are looking to recruit an additional Service Administrator within our Spinal Team.
The successful candidate will be joining an expanding unit, supporting our Clinical team with administrative duties, diary management and patient care.
You will be part of the exciting development of this team, which welcomes new ideas, approaches and improvements to current practices.
The role requires you to be pro-active, enthusiastic and willing to learn. You must be highly motivated with excellent communication skills, enjoy working within a busy and vibrant team, are able to prioritise workload and can work well under pressure. Secretarial experience, knowledge of working in a hospital environment and medical terminology are all desirable for this role, but not essential.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, between 08:00 and 17:00, Hours to be discussed at interview.
