Role Summary
This is a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced, passionate and motivated individual to become a Band 6 Senior MCA/LPS Practitioner for the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) team.
We are recruiting for a Full time Band 6 to join the evolving MCA/LPS team. As a team we cover flexible office hours Monday to Friday and this role would not include weekend working or shift working.

We are inviting applications from Allied Health Professionals, Nurses or those with a Social Work qualification. We are looking for experienced Clinicians who are keen to further their specialist skills in the Mental capacity act and who are looking for the opportunity to be part of a new trust wide implementation process to support the delivery of LPS. On the job training and development will be provided as well as ongoing and support will be given particularly in regard to LPS.
The ultimate aim of the post is to assist the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in its aim to improve and maintain compliance with the MCA and work as part of a team to set up a robust system for LPS. The evolving team consists of a number of Band 6 Practitioners, a Project Support Officer, Administrators and MCA leads.
The focus of the role initially will be to support the trust to demonstrate improving compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). You will be required to develop, deliver and support all staff throughout the trust at all levels to build their confidence and competence with using and implementing the MCA. This role will help to ensure patients with complex vulnerabilities due to capacity issues are protected from harm, received the correct support and have appropriate adjustments made to ensure their journey is individualised safe and therapeutic. You will be a source of advice in relation to MCA matters, Deprivation of Liberty (DoLS) and act as a point of contact when the Trust is involved in any Court of Protection cases. You will be working with the acute hospital and community hospitals including children’s services in the Trust.
You will be working closely with Clinicians and Managers at all levels providing remote and face to face training and devising other resources to ensure that the Trust is supported to meet the challenges of the MCA and its applications; in a variety of clinical and complex situations. You will experience a high level of support from your team and be encouraged to be innovative and creative in your approach.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
