Role Summary
The West of England Eye Unit are looking for a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated individual to work within our Axminster day case unit as a Band 3 Senior Theatre Support Worker.
Specialising in day case ophthalmology surgery, you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team within this busy vibrant department. The role is primarily based within our Axminster site, however the successful individual would need to be flexible and may be required to rotate within the department and other community sites based in Sidmouth, Tiverton, Heavitree, Nightingale CEE and Wonford when required.
A background in either ophthalmology or operating theatres would be desirable, but not essential as full training will be provided. However a willingness and aptitude to learn new skills, combined with a friendly, caring nature to support our patients through the peri-operative journey is non negotiable.

Our Senior Healthcare Support Workers form an essential and well-respected part of our healthcare teams across a number of dynamic settings; out in the community, in our acute hospitals or within our theatres teams to name just a few.

The team – The West of England Eye Unit (WEEU) provides high quality surgical interventions in a variety of Ophthalmology sub specialities across Wonford, Nightingale and Axminster theatres. Performing over 5000 cataract procedures last year across these sites, Axminster day case unit is an integral part in supporting this service. As part of the Axminster day case surgery team you will work across all phases of the peri-operative care pathway supporting the registered practitioners to provide guidance and safe effective care to our patients undergoing local anaesthetic surgery.

Working Pattern: This is a part time role working 35 hours/week.
The day case Unit is open from 7.30am - 18.00pm, Monday-Friday, although weekend working may be a requirement in the future.
