Role Summary
- To contribute to high quality nursing care to patients undergoing haemodialysis treatment and contribute to the delivery of patients’ individual care programmes under the directions and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- To perform haemodialysis on patients under the supervision of the registered nurse.
- To practice in accordance with Trust standards and statutory requirements and to operate within the boundaries of the role and assessed competencies

Senior Health Care Assistant - Haemodialysis
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and motivated Band 3 Senior Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team at the South Devon Satellite Kidney Unit, on the outskirts of Torquay.
The South Devon Satellite Kidney Unit is a nurse-led outpatient dialysis unit, providing haemodialysis 6 days a week from 07:30-23:00hrs.
We have a close working relationship with the wider renal team, based at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, collaborating with Nephrologists, dieticians, the dialysis access team and specialist nurses as required, to ensure the patients holistic needs are met.
Applicants are required to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and high standards of clinical practice as well as working with colleagues to improve services for patients. You will be required to work collaboratively with dialysis unit staff and the wider renal multi-disciplinary team to assess, plan and implement haemodialysis treatment under the supervision of the registered nurses.
Renal experience is not necessary as full haemodialysis training will be given, with new staff being supported by a dedicated Clinical Practice Facilitator. Ongoing development is encouraged, with a variety of learning opportunities available throughout the renal service, as well as the opportunity to take on link nurse responsibilities.
The working pattern will be a mixture of early (07:30-18:30) or late (12:00-23:00) shifts worked Monday-Saturday. The unit benefits from a free car park and is close to local bus routes. We are closed on Sundays, Christmas Day and New Year's Day, with no overnight working required.

Working Pattern: Working pattern a mixture of early (07:30-18:30) and late (12:00-23:00) shifts worked Monday-Saturday. A full time position working pattern consists of 3 weeks of 4 x shifts and 1 week of 3 x shifts in a 4 week roster period.
