Role Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Biomedical Scientist with good interpersonal skills and a high degree of self-motivation to join the team.
The post holder will have responsibility for supervision of sections of the Microbiology department on a rotational basis to ensure timely, accurate, high quality work to users of the service.
They will have responsibility for an additional role, which could include: Training, Health and Safety, Quality, Data analysis/integrity or materials management.
To be the successful the candidate, as well as being friendly and reliable, you will need a flexible attitude towards work with strong IT, communication and organisational skills, and an acute attention to detail. You will require the ability to work under pressure, and have strong technical and leadership abilities.
The department has achieved UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189 and is an IBMS approved training laboratory. You must be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with In-depth post-HCPC registration experience of working in all areas of a Medical Microbiology laboratory. An MSC or equivalent in Microbiology / Virology and at least 5 years post graduate experience in Microbiology is also required for this post.

We are delighted to be able to recruit to a Senior Biomedical Scientist to work within the Clinical Microbiology department of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (RDUH).
The Microbiology Department at RDUH is part of the Pathology service providing a diagnostic Microbiology service to the Trust and community. This forward thinking hospital is situated on the edge of Dartmoor in the city of Exeter with easy access to the M5 corridor and excellent transport links to the open countryside and Devon coastline. There is an on-site restaurant, crèche facilities and a choice of coffee/tea outlets. The laboratory has its own rest areas within the department.

Working Pattern: Your core hours will be from 09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week), working on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, on a rotational basis.
Time worked on a Saturday accrues a pay enhancement of 30% and time worked on a Sunday/Bank Holiday accrues an enhancement of 60%.
