Role Summary

To ensure provision of the scientific service commitment of the laboratory in line with the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust objectives and commensurate with grade and responsibilities.

Dimensions:

The laboratory provides a comprehensive service of routine and specialised analysis for Haematology and Immunology investigations.

The laboratory has full UKAS accreditation.

The department offers a full clinical interpretive service in all areas

The department employs 30 scientific members of staff within the areas of Automated Haematology, Coagulation, Proteins, Morphology, Automated Immunology, Fluorescent Microscopy, Specialist Serology.

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Eastern site based in Exeter provides acute healthcare services to a population of approximately half a million people living in Mid Devon, East Devon, and the surrounding area. The hospital also provides a range of specialist services, across the UK and Europe. Set in the beautiful city of Exeter in the midst of glorious Devon countryside and close to the Southwest coastline, with its stunning beaches. The city boasts excellent links by road, rail and air to the rest of the country, Europe and beyond, whilst being within easy reaches of picturesque Dartmoor scenery.

We invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced Biomedical Scientists. You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to organise and motivate staff. The appointee will assist the members of the Blood Sciences management team in providing a comprehensive, cost effective, and high-quality laboratory service to the Trust.

Applicants must be HCPC registered in a busy NHS Trust with significant Haematology activity. Higher level qualification to MSc is desirable as is demonstrable experience commensurate with the grade of the post, a further management or risk/ quality qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.

The successful applicant will play a significant part in the development of the service within the Blood Sciences Department, providing a robust, fit for purpose service.

Options are available for substantive and fixed term contracts.  Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work in both full time and part time roles.
