Role Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join the Physiotherapy service working at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We have vacancies on our Band 5 Rotational Programme which will suit Physiotherapists with previous experience at Band 5 Level or Physiotherapists who will qualify in 2023.
Specialities include, acute respiratory medicine, ICU, Neurology (including stroke), general medicine, surgery, T&O, health for older people and community rehabilitation. Effective communication, competent assessment skills, sound knowledge of the Hospital discharge process and a patient-centred approach to Physiotherapy must be possessed by the applicant.
Whilst the successful applicant will frequently be expected to work as an Autonomous Practitioner there will be strong links with the Multidisciplinary team working in the Hospital. There will also be opportunities to work closely with Senior Therapists to enable Continued Professional Development.

This Rotational Role will allow the successful applicant to develop their Clinical skills and reasoning through working across acute and community settings, facilitating the completion of a preceptorship programme where appropriate.
The post holder is responsible for providing Physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis & treatment; and education & advice to patients, carers and members of the Multidisciplinary team. There will be liaison with family, carers and external agencies to ensure safe and effective discharge of patients from the acute Trust and/or appropriate transfer of care.
This is a developmental post as part of a Rotational Scheme, supported by experienced specialist Physiotherapists. Rotational specialities may include: general, acute or respiratory medicine, Healthcare for older people, Intensive care & Paediatrics, surgery, amputee Rehabilitation, Trauma & Orthopaedics, outpatients, Neurology, acute stroke, Neuro-Rehabilitation and community based Rehabilitation across Exeter, East and Mid Devon.
The specific caseloads will be flexible across community, in-patient and out-patient Clinical areas within the Trust. This will include Ward based work, Clinics, patients’ homes / other Residential settings. The post is based across the relevant community sites and acute hospital sites of Wonford and Heavitree and driving is essential.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours a week between 07.30 - 20:00, working flexibly over 7 days, including weekends, bank holidays and on the on-call respiratory rota.
