Role Summary

  • To plan and manage the implementation of Individual Care Programmes for patients in the perioperative period as part of the Theatre team.
  • To guide, instruct and monitor Junior staff, students and support staff.
  •  Following a period of support and training the Practitioner will deputise for the team leader. 
  • To practice in accordance with Professional Codes, and statutory requirements
  • The post holder will be expected to meet objectives set out during Personal Development Review in line with the KSF outlines.
  • To work flexibly within any area of the Trust as directed by the Clinical Matron or Clinical nurse/ODP manager /Sister/Team leader to provide support according to service needs

General Theatres undertake a wide range of specialties in both the elective and emergency settings including Orthopedic Trauma, ENT, Max Fax, Plastics, Vascular, General Surgery inc. upper GI/Colo-rectal and Urology. We have added Robotic Urogical, Gyne, colorectal and ENT procedures to our services. Within these theatres you will be required to work as part of a 24 hour unit participating in on calls, weekend working and night duty.

This role is to be based within the Night team helping running the Out Of Hours Service for Trauma and Emergency theatres. The applicant will need to be familiar with most specialties covered in the above section also have some obstetric peri operative surgery experience as we are required to provide support for Centre for women’s health.

Working Pattern: 20 hours per week, 21:00 - 08:00 (this role is to cover our out of hours service during nights)
