Role Summary
- The post holder will work as part of the SARC team and be professionally accountable for the forensic examinations they undertake for clients 16 years+, ensuring support and guidance are given and arrange follow up care including written referrals and Clinical telephone referrals with advice and guidance from a Clinical Lead as necessary.
- The post holder will be responsible for performing a clinical assessment and physical examination to ascertain if the client has any acute needs, such as physical injury, prevention of pregnancy, prophylaxis for sexually transmitted infections and HIV, and may directly refer to other Clinical Services and Agencies.
- The post holder will be required to attend and participate in strategy meetings with the Police and adult social care, providing specialist advice and guidance to those professionals regarding the Health needs of adults that have experienced sexual harm.
- The post holder will be required to participate in an out of hours rota, providing other professionals with expert advice regarding adults who have experienced sexual harm. They may be required to attend to see clients outside of core working hours
- The post holder to attend civil and criminal court as a professional witness on an occasional basis and be available to attend court beyond the end of their employment

Devon and Cornwall Sexual Assault Services have recently been awarded a new 7 year contract to provide services for people who have experienced sexual harm in Devon and Cornwall across our 3 SARC sites in Exeter, Plymouth and Truro. We are looking for Nurses or Midwives to join our team of Forensic Nurse Practitioners, who will provide forensic examinations for those over the age of 16 who have been recently sexually assaulted or raped, to support police prosecutions, emotional and health wellbeing.
This is an exciting time to join our multi-disciplinary team of Doctors, Specialist Nurses and Therapists. Devon and Cornwall SARCs are recognised nationally as a centre of best practice with their innovative and forward thinking approach to delivery services to those that have experienced significant trauma.
We are looking for Nurses and Midwives that are eager to learn and develop within this specialism, which holds patient centred care at the very forefront of all that we do.
Working Pattern: 23 hours per week over 2 days. On call requirement: 1 night per week and 1 weekend in 4.
