About the Radiology Team
We are a cohesive and driven multi-disciplinary team, working closely with consultant radiologists, radiographers, support staff and students to deliver safe, effective and efficient care to all our patients. We are based in the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter, as well as support the Community Diagnostics Hub on the outskirts of Exeter at Sowton.
We are a team of friendly, inclusive professionals who inspire and support each other in providing great care with compassion; advocating for the patient in all that we do.
Our Interventional Radiology nurses assist with interventional imaging procedures for patients across acute and non-acute pathways, as well as caring for patients before and after their procedures. Within the Interventional Radiology theatre, we circulate and work as a scrub nurse assisting the Radiologists.
We facilitate other image guided procedures including CT, Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy. On a rotational basis we also provide nursing support to the Community Radiology Hub.
Our current service operates 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday and the Team are part of an on-call rota when fully trained. As with all services this can be subject to change to meet patient needs and service demand.
Agenda for Change provides pay enhancements for On-Call and other shift working arrangements.

We want you to be the best Interventional Radiology nurse, and we will support you to gain the skills and expertise to do this.
If you are new to the radiology specialism we can offer training to enable you to gain knowledge of interventional radiology procedures and clinical skills over time. This is through a competency-based training approach on-the-job, with some study and the support of the experienced Team around you.
This training will be tailored to you and combined with support and supervision to practise and develop all the new skills the role demands in a safe and supported way. Equally we can adapt to ‘refresh’ skills.

08:30-16:30 Monday-Friday (on call sessions to cover outside of these hours are divided between the team)
