Role Summary
The role of the Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is diverse and varied. You will work in all areas of the Department including Resus, Majors and Minors. You will be allocated and care for patients in these areas and ensure they have investigations and treatment required for their specific presenting complaint. Our Emergency Department is a busy high performing unit which has nearly 100,000 attendances per year. We therefore require skilled, dynamic and enthusiastic Registered Adult or Paediatric Nurses who have previous experience of working in an acute setting. In return for your drive and commitment we will offer ongoing support and development to further your skill base.
The work and pace can be challenging, there will be plenty of opportunity to put organisational skills into practice as well as the expert Clinical skills needed. We see all specialties including Paediatrics, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Medical and Surgical. You will be expected to care for both Adult and Children in a mixed Emergency Care setting, full training and guidance will be given.
We offer a tailored 2-week induction programme that will provide you will the skills and knowledge to be successful in your role, as well as protected supernumerary time for a minimum of 3 weeks to ensure you are confident in your new role. We have an in-house practice facilitator that will work with you to achieve your learning goals.
We are currently in an exciting stage of our Department rebuild. When complete this will provide an 8 bedded purpose-built resus, as well as a modern reception and waiting area, and excitingly, a paediatric Emergency Department.

Working pattern: 37.5 hours per week (part time hours would be considered)

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2024-5 rates, inclusive of a 5.5% pay award implemented from October 2024. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 2023-4 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2023/24 | NHS Employers).
