Role Summary

JOB PURPOSE

  • To plan and manage the implementation of individual care programmes for patients in the recovery unit and associated areas.
  • To guide, instruct and monitor junior staff, student nurses and support workers.
  • To co-ordinate the organisation of care within the Recovery units in the absence of the Recovery sister/matron
  • To practice in accordance with NMC/HCPC Codes, statutory requirements and the Trust’s Vision & Strategy.
  • To work flexibly within any area of the Trust as directed by the Clinical Matron to provide support according to service needs. This will include working on the Ward, pre-assessment and assisting Therapies when not in Recovery.

About Us

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse / ODP with previous Recovery experience to apply and be part of the Clinical Team, offering excellent patient care and experience at the South West Ambulatory Orthopaedic Centre.

It would be an advantage for applicants to have knowledge and clinical skills in orthopaedic recovery / post operative care. Applicants will need to be open to new ways of working to support us to deliver our vision for day case orthopaedic surgery.

This post is being offered on a permanent or external secondment basis with flexible and part-time working arrangements considered.

South West Ambulatory Orthopaedic Centre

The South West Ambulatory Orthopaedic Centre (SWAOC) is a system collaboration to utilise the best clinical pathways from across the UK for delivery of high volume ambulatory orthopaedic surgery at a single designated facility, located at the Nightingale Hospital Exeter. Having opened in March 2022, we are looking to recruit to a variety of permanent clinical roles including HCAs, Band 5 RNs, ODPs, Theatre Nurses, Band 6 Senior Theatre Practitioners and Band 7 Surgical Care Practitioners.
