Role Summary
Plain film Radiographer, suitable for newly qualified/ current 3rd years students. Working in ED, In-patients, Out-patients, our specialised orthopaedic room, Theatres and Mobiles. Possible rotation to other modalities including CT, Fluoroscopy and DEXA.

Our accredited, fully digital centre are looking to expand the team due to our growing Medical Imaging department. No two days will be the same as you will be covering a broad range of imaging modality services including, fully DR Plain Film X-Ray, Nuclear Medicine, Interventional Radiology, CT, MRI, and Ultrasound. You will work across A&E, Plain Film Radiography, Orthopaedic out-patients, Theatre and Portables, with opportunities to rotate through Fluoroscopy, Bone Density (DXA) Scanning, Cross-sectional imaging and our Community sites including our new Devon Diagnostic Centre at the previous Exeter Nightingale Hospital site.

All staff within the Trust who are new registrants with their professional body/ HCPC are entered into a 12-month Trust wide preceptorship scheme. The scheme offers you 5 study days throughout the 12 months outside of your department to work with other professional groups and learn more about their roles. One of these study days is an “Alternative Clinical Experience” day where you choose to observe/ shadow another team within the Trust. Previously staff have chosen to observe the triage staff in ED and the Orthopaedic Consultant’s in clinics. The choice is yours.
We want to invest in you. Our core commitment to supporting professional development is demonstrated in our growing number of Reporting Radiographers who support Axial, Appendicular, CT Colon, Chest, and DXA reporting. We are also delighted to be delivering a rolling programme of sonographer training, now in its fourth year and have recently recruited 2 new Advanced Clinical Practitioners in MSK and Interventional Ultrasound. The department continues to support other post graduate education and has recently financed MSc studies for staff.
We are proudly in our seventh year as an accredited centre under the UKAS Quality Standards for Imaging (QSI) Accreditation Scheme, and have demonstrated a commitment to continued quality improvement for patients and staff.
The department opens from 8am until 8pm 7 days a week, with 24hour services for A&E and ward services. We operate an on call and a shift pattern, and successful applicants will participate in this.
About you
As you build your confidence in your abilities as a5 Radiographer, you will strive to deliver the highest standards of patient care whilst demonstrating our Trust values of being compassionate, inclusive, open and honest in all that you do. The successful candidate will be flexible, adaptable and have experience of a broad range of general x-ray examinations and adaptive technique as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Opportunities are available to the successful applicants to undertake Assistant Practitioner roles within the team prior to qualification and receipt of your HCPC registration.
