Role Summary
We are seeking a Principal Psychologist or equivalent to take a clinical lead role in the development of the Devon and Cornwall Sexual Violence Trauma Pathfinder programme. You will be supporting innovative and transformational system change to the benefit of people experiencing sexual violence related trauma.
This is an ambitious and complex programme of work requiring collaboration with multiple partners including Plymouth, Devon, Torbay and Cornwall Councils, NHS Devon ICB, Cornwall CCG, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and Strategic Delivery partner Victim Support, service providers and people with lived experience.
You will work with a group of committed, knowledgeable and connected system leaders in the Trauma Pathfinder Steering Group whose collective ambition is to radically improve our understanding of - and response to - sexual violence and abuse.
About us
You will be based in the Devon and Cornwall Sexual Assault Referral Centres service, an innovative and dynamic service for people who have experienced sexual harm within Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
The team includes forensic doctors, paediatricians, paediatric and specialist nurses, trauma therapists and management and admin support.
We benefit from being a specialist service within the newly integrated Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust which compromises 2 acute hospitals and community services across Devon. We also have good links with the Peninsula Medical School.

Main duties of the job
The purpose of the Principal Psychologist role is to provide a leadership role in clinical elements of the development and delivery of the Sexual Violence Trauma Pathfinder programme. The post holder will provide clinical expertise and experience in assessment and delivery of trauma-based and shame-sensitive interventions, taking a key role in pro-typing approaches to creatively meet needs of people with complex, trauma-related mental health needs who have experienced sexual violence, in partnership with people with lived experience and the community and voluntary sector.
The Pathfinder Objectives include:
· Creating and improving pathways and partnership working approaches to the benefit of individuals with trauma-related mental health needs associated with sexual assault and abuse.
· Improving access to professionals trained in identification of and response to trauma.
· Improving quality of life, individual wellbeing, functioning (including social and occupational) and supporting healing and recovery
· Reducing trauma related symptoms, mental health symptomology, harm and re-traumatisation.
· Developing trauma-informed systems
· Building evidence base
Working Pattern: 30 hours per week. 4 days a week
