Role Summary
We are looking to recruit a Practice Educator to to support the nursing team at our busy integrated Devon Sexual Health service. This is a new role in our service and we are looking for applicants who display strong nursing leadership qualities and who are able to act as a role-model to staff working in clinics across Exeter, Torbay and Barnstaple.

You will promote a positive learning environment, facilitating staff to provide ‘best practice’, evidence-based care to our patients. Working alongside our friendly and forward-thinking MDT, you will identify knowledge and skill gaps in the nursing and HCA team, and be responsible for supporting the development of clinical competencies by organising and planning teaching programmes across the service. With excellent communication and organisational skills, you will be interested, motivated and have the ability to work within a demanding workload, providing cover for clinical duties as required. It is essential that you have recent experience and recognised qualifications in the provision of contraception and sexual health care, and be able to manage patients requiring the following aspects of care:
- STI symptoms, including an understanding of partner notification where required
- PEP/PrEP,
- Contraception (emergency contraception, LARC and other methods)
- Care and support with sexual assault
- Identified safeguarding needs
- Safer sex and risk reduction support
Non-medical prescribing qualification and/or a letter of competence in the insertion and removal of subdermal implants and/or IUC (or working towards) would be desirable.
Although mainly based within the Exeter clinic, the post-holder will be required to work flexibly across all clinics according to service needs, with the ability to travel independently to meet the needs of this role. This is a full-time, substantive post and will involve some evening and weekend work on a rotational basis.
