Role Summary

  • Provide a professional, efficient and effective reception and appointment booking service to patients and visitors in accordance with Trust policies and standards; acting as the public face for the RD&E NHS Trust
  • Undertake general clerical duties
  • Ensure all information is secure and confidentiality of information is maintained at all times
  • Provide excellent customer care which may include communication with distressed and anxious patients and relatives, treating them with tact and empathy.
  • Providing Reception cover to the public
  • Checking Patients in for clinics
  • Answering telephones and dealing with queries related to appointments
  • Supporting fellow colleagues and working collaboratively as a Team
  • Generally being amazing every day.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our fantastic team. We are looking to recruit a professional and reliable individual to provide an efficient and effective Reception service to patients and visitors attending the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital and local community hospitals, on a rotational basis according to service need.

The post holder will be proficient in dealing with confidentiality issues and able to provide excellent customer care, ensuring patients details are accurately recorded and the relevant documentation is created to support safe patient care. This position is instrumental in creating a good first impression of the Trust to our patients and visitors.  This role would suit someone who has excellent interpersonal skills, is proactive and looking for a challenge.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong administration and communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure and experience of dealing with the general public and with difficult/distressed people. A flexible approach to work and experience of working in a busy environment and with minimal supervision are also essential.

Working Pattern: 22.5 hours
