Role Summary

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for an Orthoptist to join the Orthoptic Team at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple.

The successful candidate will work alongside a dedicated team of Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Orthoptic Assistants, Optometrists and Nurses in a busy supportive department.

We are a friendly, dynamic forward thinking department who encourage innovative autonomous working practices. Your timetable will be varied and interesting with the scope for involvement in extended role work and to build on and gain excellent experience.

The Orthoptic department currently provides general Adult and Paediatric Clinics including patients from Eye Casualty, Neurology, Stroke Rehabilitation team, Paediatric Vision Screening and Special School Screening. In an extended role capacity we currently support/work in the following clinics: Dystonia/Botox, JIA, WAMD and Glaucoma Monitoring

The post is based at North Devon District Hospital however we also hold Clinics at various Community locations therefore an ability to travel is essential.

We welcome applications from new graduates and offer appropriate development and mentoring opportunities. We provide both BIOS and Trust Preceptorship programmes.

Applicants will need to be enthusiastic, motivated and keen to work hard in a busy environment.

Applicants must hold a degree or diploma in Orthoptics and be registered with the HCPC.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours over 4 days: 3 x 9.5 hour days and 1 x 9 hour day. Flexible or part-time hours will also be considered
