Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Business intelligence analyst with an understanding of healthcare analysis and a record of working across NHS organisations. You will develop and provide comprehensive, high quality, complex and timely information, and use analytics and predictive modelling to support the Trust's annual planning requirements. You will work with operational teams to develop Demand and Capacity models and will have demonstrable experience of NHS data sets, health and social care delivery systems and models of care, and have an expert knowledge of analysis software and methodologies.
The post holder will work closely with the Trust's existing BI teams in North and Eastern localities, and will be responsible for providing professional support, development and leadership to the trust’s analysts and as such will deputise where necessary.

The Operational Performance Manager will be responsible for the delivery of data which informs and influences the Trust-wide national activity planning process, modelling future activity and trajectories, undertaking Demand and Capacity modelling and supporting business cases for additional funds. This work will include contributing as the lead analyst to the HIP2 Our Future Hospital programme.
The post holder will provide national planning data, analysis, redesign and decision support, predictive activity, and supporting staffing and other modelling. For HIP2 the post holder will specifically contribute to the OBC and FBC as required for development of these outputs, in line with programme plan, and also deliver progress reports and presentations as and when required.
In order to deliver this, the post holder will:
- undertake data analysis and interpretation at both acute and system level
- collate external contractor modelling and verify using local data interpretation
- build system relationships to develop a view on how future services will impact population health management
- collaborate with staff across the business units
- work with the Trust’s digital lead to identify opportunities to improve processes and strategies with technology solutions
- have a strong understanding of service processes and requirements
This will require the post holder to work with external advisors, eg commissioners, regional BI teams, and Healthcare Planners, to establish an agreed baseline of current demand and capacity that can be translated into activity or estate requirements.
With extensive specialist skills and knowledge, the post holder has the freedom to act and initiate action, to lead in the development of highly complex ideas and solutions to service issues, to a high professional standard including setting standards and establishing interpretation of policies across the organisation. As an expert, the post holder will also be required to use their knowledge and experience to present highly complex, sensitive and contentious views on subjects of strategic importance, across organisations and to the public, persuading others with the strength of arguments and making judgements on these items as the expert.
In addition to being an expert in Business Intelligence, the post holder will have detailed knowledge of NHS data sets, health and social care delivery systems and models of care that are crucial to how the role supports health economy system redesign. They will be confident in managing external inputs and challenging where required, curious about the underlying trends and what the data is telling us about the cost and impact of services, and experienced in working to develop relationships with colleagues and analyse data across geographic or organisational boundaries.
The post holder is expected to work with existing analysts in the Trust's Northern BI team by providing professional support, development and leadership and utilising additional resource where necessary. As such it is expected that the Operational Performance Manager will deputise for the Deputy Head of BI Northern as required.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week.
