Role Summary
To support the OSCE Training Lead in preparing Transition Nurses to undertake their test of competence part 2 - Observed Structured Clinical Exams (OSCEs). This may involve escorting candidates to exams where necessary.
Ongoing maintenance and production of OSCE training materials; reflecting what is required for the training programme.
Liaising with other STP Trusts to ensure fair and timely bookings of Transition Nurses onto training pathways.
Booking staff onto their OSCE with the NMC test centres, ensure all required information is shared between candidates and the test centre.
Support staff to achieve competence in practical trainings ensuring safe and fair assessment of learners. This will be in both classroom and simulated clinical settings.
The Practice Education Team will have a specialist subject focus each year; the team will be responsible for ensuring the education around this subject is clearly delivered to all relevant staff groups.

Do you have a desire to work with international nurses who are new to the UK?
This role is a permenant post for a band 5 OSCE trainer. The NMC OSCE training is a successful training program which runs with a new cohort of overseas nurses every three weeks. This program is designed to deliver both practical and theoretical training sessions in a bespoke environment at the Nightingale hospital to international nurses new to the NHS to equip them with the skills needed to pass their NMC exam and gain their nursing registration. The training covers several sessions which will use both theoretical and practical teaching relating to nursing practice including professional values, catheterisation, ANTT and APIE.
As part of this role you will be required to plan, deliver and evaluate OSCE training and support international nurses throughout their training.
As a OSCE trainer you would need to work flexibly and adapt to the training schedule to ensure all overseas nurses undertaking the NMC OSCE exam are fully up to date with the requirements set out by the NMC in order to pass their exam successfully. As part of this team you would work with the lead OSCE trainer to deliver the training to equip internationally trained nurses to complete their exam and gain their registration in the UK. You will be required to deliver face to face teaching in a ward based environment and ensure you are up to date with the requirements of the exam from the NMC. You will be required to undertake practical assessments and take advice and guidance from the OSCE team lead as appropriate in relation to training.
You will also be required to provide pastoral care to international nurses new to the trust and the OSCE training program, supporting them as they transition to the NHS and gain their registration. You would be required to escalate any concerns appropriately to the OSCE team lead or the Practice Education Team Lead.
