Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Nurse to join the Tissue Viability Service as a Band 6 Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse on a 12 month fixed-term secondment. Based within the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, the service provides specialist support across acute and community settings, including inpatient wards, outpatient clinics and patients' own homes.

Tissue viability plays a vital role in delivering safe, effective, high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in wound management, pressure ulcer prevention and skin integrity, together with a good understanding of national guidance and evidence-based practice.

Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will provide specialist advice and support to healthcare professionals, patients and carers, contributing to the assessment and management of complex wounds and pressure damage. They will support the delivery of education, promote best practice and contribute to service improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and reducing avoidable harm.

The post holder will provide specialist assessment, advice and management for patients with complex wounds and skin integrity concerns, promoting best practice, and supporting staff across the organisation with clinical decision-making to improve patient outcomes and experience.

The role will involve participating in the review of pressure ulcer incidents and supporting organisational learning through the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF). The post holder will contribute to audit, data collection, service evaluation and quality improvement activities aimed at enhancing standards of care and reducing avoidable harm.

Working as an autonomous practitioner within the multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will act as a specialist resource for colleagues, patients and carers. They will develop effective working relationships with a wide range of clinical teams and partner organisations and contribute to the delivery of education and training programmes to support the implementation of evidence-based practice. They will also play a key role in supporting staff to deliver high-quality wound care and pressure ulcer prevention across acute and community settings.

Personal and professional development is actively encouraged within the team, with opportunities to develop specialist knowledge, leadership skills and quality improvement experience.

The post holder will be required to travel across Trust sites and community locations; therefore, a full driving licence and access to suitable transport is essential.

Working Pattern: 22.5 hours Monday to Friday
