Role Summary

The Medical Staffing Team Leader will promote excellence in customer service by overseeing the provision of the day to day transactional work and management of the Medical Staffing Team. They will ensure an efficient and effective operation, offer advice and guidance on complex queries and ensure that a proactive, comprehensive and professional day-to-day support service is provided to the workforce and our wider customers.

Managing a dedicated Medical Staffing Team, we are looking for a well organised, enthusiastic and motivated individual. You will have previous experience of working within Medical Staffing as in this Team Leader role you will be the first point of escalation from members of the Medical Staffing Team. You will work closely with management and Clinical colleagues in the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in order to undertake a variety of high value and time critical tasks.

Tasks undertaken by the Team include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruitment of all grades of medical and dental staff (including overseas recruitment);
  • Managing the HR process for junior doctors who are rotating as part of their training programme;
  • Rota building and monitoring to ensure safe and compliant working practices;
  • Issuing of contracts and work schedules within set timescales which inform on doctors’ pay;
  • Providing professional, comprehensive and timely day to day advice, information and training to managers and employees on a range of Medical Staffing issues including employment contract queries, terms and conditions queries and recruitment processes;
  • Complying with Trust policies & procedures, national terms and conditions for all grades of medical staff and employment legislation;
  • Supporting visa applications for overseas doctors by issuing certificates of sponsorship;
  • Temporary Staffing (Medical Bank and Agency) administration

You will interact and establish a strong rapport with both medical and managerial colleagues and must be able to communicate via all forms with numerous stakeholders (internal and external).

You must possess excellent customer-care, attention to detail, administrative and organisational skills; along with an ability to analyse situations, problem solve and provide solutions; being assertive when required in order to work to the required multitude of deadlines of the varying pieces of work required of this role.

You will be proficient with Excel and able to manipulate spreadsheets and produce reports.

Remote working will be considered although there is an expectation that you will be able to attend meetings and interviews at the Northern Services (based in Barnstaple) on a regular basis. 

You will be expected to uphold the reputation of the Medical Staffing Team, build trust and confidence with stake-holders and continuously strive to improve and develop services to support the medical workforce.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week.
